Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).
The human body has three gates that lead to the heart: The eye gate, the ear gate, and the mouth gate. We should see, hear and speak those things that will keep us on the right path and the right direction. This will avoid temptation at any cost and avoid missing your goal in life. The wrong music can make you have wrong thoughts. The wrong television program can make you have lustful thoughts. The wrong association can make you say things that don’t edify Christ or even yourself.
I once had the opportunity to go hear a Faith preacher. One of the highlights of the evening was when he described how he beat his illness. When the doctors told him he had cancer, he went home and gathered all his healing tapes, healing video’s (DVD’s weren’t out then) and his Bible and went to the third floor of his house and locked himself in for three days. In those three days he only had healing tapes and worship music going into his ear gate. Healing videos were going into his eye gate and as he read the Word, he spoke it out loud through his mouth gate. At the end of the three days, he was healed. His Faith had risen and he knew he was healed. The Word states, "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." He heard God speak into his spirit on the third day, "You are healed." When he went back to the doctor, he heard the same thing, "You are healed (cured). There is no cancer."
The next time you are faced with bad news, whether it’s your health, finances or a family crisis, remember “The Gates” and protect them. Put in and out only what you want to receive.
The Apostle Paul admonishes us in Philippians 4:8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
MOUTH GATE
*You are snared with the words of thy mouth…(Proverbs 6:2).
*There is life and death in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
*Speak positive always and speak well of others.
EAR GATE
* Hear, for I will speak of excellent things… (Proverbs 8:6).
* Hear the Word and do it!
* Put on your Praise and Worship music because God dwells in the midst of praise.
* Don’t allow folks to dump their garbage on you or swear in your presence or tell dirty jokes.
EYE GATE
*When you look upon a woman and lust, you have already sinned in your heart (Matthew 5:28).
*Be careful what you watch and the subtle ideas we obtain from books, magazines and television.
*Pornography destroys marriages, character and your life.
Let’s take an example from the 3 little monkeys: See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil.
