God, What's Next?

Pastors Steve and Pattie Reeves take the
carpet as they share their exciting
journey of faith.
By Pastors Steve and Pattie Reeves

When we reflect back on our humble beginnings, we think of Ruth and Naomi and what they had to endure to reach their destiny.

There have been times in our married lives when we thought that we had it all together.  We had all the pieces in place, then, it was all gone.  Things changed, people changed with the changes, and emptiness, loneliness and grief became our companions.  We found ourselves in a foreign, unfamiliar place and holding on to what little faith we had.

Life was good before the change and this place was not comfortable to us.  We knew who we were in Christ. We knew we were gifted, talented and not afraid of taking risk.  We often quoted Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  We had plans, big dreams and knew for certain we would reach them.  We did everything above board, we tithed, gave offerings, helped the poor and needy and served in the church and community.  We were positioned no matter what, we did not question God. We believed in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”  Because we held on, it happened and it changed our lives, our goals and our future for the better.
Change is inevitable.  We will all encounter good and bad changes in life and each activity to change has its proper time as ordained by God.  We learned that how we responded to change or failure was the key to our success.  Keep a positive attitude.  Your attitude can determine your altitude.  Actually in the end, change was good and it helped us with our consistency and belief in God.

Through our trust in God, we were able to endure the changes, losses and failures that occurred in our life.  With our strong belief and trust in God, we knew God makes no mistakes or creates any accidents, we stood tall and faced the challenges in our lives and God ordained each one of them in order to fulfill His purpose in our lives.  He developed our characters and trust in Him and in the end He got the glory.

We grew to know God accepts us just the way we are and His grace guided us to accept the changes and made us ready to receive the blessings.  He was able to find trust in us in failure and today He can trust us with wealth. In our mistakes, He loved us, and there were no strings attached.

We are in a new season of our lives and ministryand in the midst of it all, we are assured and convinced: God never changes, His Word never changes, His love never changes, His mood never changes and He remains the same, yesterday, today and forever more.  He is truly “Our God.”

In this next season we ask: “God, what’s next for the Reeves?  God, what’s next for Covenant? We conclude as it says in Jeremiah 17:7-8: “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.  For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its root by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Get ready and position yourselves for the wealth transfer!
