The Covenant Story

The Visionaries

Covenant Home Care was birthed in 2006 by Steve and Pattie Reeves.  By FAITH they set out on a journey to create a different home care for seniors and their families. Because they often shared their stories of faith, they soon became known as the “Faithful Duo.”

Steve and Pattie Reeves are both ordained pastors. The Reeves had an increasing desire to not just treat their patients’ natural needs but their spiritual needs as well. Their compassion extends not only to the patients, but also to the family members. They developed a motto: “Treat the patient and support the caregiver.”

Pattie’s early experiences as a nurse in home health care became frustrating because her bosses frowned upon her praying and reading healing scriptures to patients.  The inability to perform the spiritual aspect of care was among the reasons why the Reeves decided to start their own home care agency. Today, the Reeves stay committed to a devout prayer life and draw on their faith to build a home care business that provides warm, compassionate, personalized care in the comfort of the home.
Inspiration from Mentors

A personal tragedy and the untimely death of her mother changed Pattie's life in her late 20’s leaving her deeply depressed. Finding solace being alone, one day a housekeeper came to her and said: “You used to be bubbly but lately you have been so sad and withdrawn.  I don’t know what is wrong. But, if you read this book it will restore your joy.”

The housekeeper handed her a book titled, “How Faith Works” by Dr. Frederick K. C. Price. Pattie asked herself, “What does faith have to do with what I am going through?” Nonetheless, she immediately began to read the book and to her surprise, read it again and again.  It soon became her constant reading companion at work. Little did she know this one book would change her total life forever.

Months later, a neighbor invited Pattie to hear Kenneth Hagin. It was as an intimate setting of 25 people with teachings on healing and faith.  Fred Price's book on faith and Kenneth Hagin’s book on healing began to shape her into a life of faith and God’s plan for healing.  The faith process had evolved in her life when she later married Steve. After marriage, the young couple’s thirst for a deeper “Faith” experience led them to attend a Kenneth Copeland meeting in Washington D.C.  While on the plane, Pattie by faith asked God to let her meet the Copelands. By divine intervention she met Kenneth and Gloria Copeland up close and personal on the elevator the first night!
Now, she was more convinced than ever, FAITH works.

The Journey Continues
Since 2006, Covenant Home Care has become a thriving business that continues to meet the physical and spiritual needs of its patients.  The compassion not only rests with the patients, but the family members caring for the patients. The staff are trained to treat each patient as if it was their own family member.  The Reeves believe that “healthy” people make strong families and “strong” families make life enriching communities and “life enriching” communities make the world a better place to live.

While Covenant continues to grow; the Reeves remain constant in serving each patient with a professional team approach and integrity. As agents of change they receive endless possibilities and protection from their daily reading of Psalm 91.  Expanding on the vision, they offer hospital  visitations and in-home communion.

Often asked was there a model used to start their business, the Reeves simply reply: “The P-H-C Model of Faith.” This translates to: “The Price-Hagin-Copeland” teachings on faith. The guiding principles of faith remain strong for the continued growth of Covenant.  As they continue in their quest to change the face of home care, they remain respectful of each patient’s religious and cultural orientation – whether it’s coming before sundown on the Sabbath or taking their shoes off at the back door.

The Joint Commission awarded Covenant the Gold Seal of Accreditation in 2007 and 2010.  Covenant is proud to be Oakland County's best Home Care – by FAITH.
